Advocates Ask the Candidates-Macomb Prosecutor Primary Candidate Forum

A Candidate Forum that includes both the Republican and Democrat candidates for Prosecutor will be filmed at the Sterling Heights Community Center on July 9th.
The Forum was initiated by Suzanne Coats, retired CEO of Turning Point and is sponsored by the Macomb Bar Foundation and Association. The questions to candidates have been submitted by a variety of advocacy organizations in Macomb that represent a range of concerns these groups have for the next Prosecutor. “I am excited that voters will have an opportunity to listen to the candidates on issues that are important to them and the people they serve before choosing their candidate, states Suzanne Coats. This is an extremely powerful position and it is vital we have an opportunity to hear from the candidates before we vote.”
The Macomb County Bar Foundation, a charitable organization established by the Macomb Bar Association that focuses its work on civic education, is sponsoring the event as part of its Legally Speaking show that airs on local government cable television. The show will also be available on YouTube
“It was a challenge to bring this event together during a pandemic but it will be worth it if the Forum will be viewed widely by the community. “We are thankful to Charlie Langton who brings a great deal of experience to this Forum and will be covering a lot of ground in the one hour forum”, said Rick Troy, Executive Director of the Macomb Bar Association and Foundation.

Macomb Food Program receives donations from the Macomb County
Bar Foundation and Attorney Title Agency
The Macomb Food Program recently received two donations from local organizations to assist efforts in fighting food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The donations came from the Macomb County Bar Foundation, which hosted an online fundraiser and raised $2,000, and ATA National Title Group, LLC, which matched those dollars for a total of $4,000.
“The Macomb Food Program is grateful for the generous donation during this time when we are seeing the demand for food increase,” said Shannon Mallory, program manager for the Macomb Food Program. “This donation will help us ensure that our pantry partners have stocked shelves to meet the needs of our community here in Macomb County.”
Founded in 1975, the Macomb Food Program provides immediate relief to those in need of food through a network of more than 60 pantries and hunger relief organizations. In an average month, the program serves 15,000 individuals and 7,000 families. But since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, it has increased the amount of shelf stable items it gives pantries so supply can meet demand. Donations from the community help the program continue this work.
“The Macomb Bar Foundation has always prioritized using its resources to help those living and working in Macomb County when fulfilling its mission of supporting law related education, but in this time of great disruption and need, we knew we had to find another way to help,” said Dana Warnez, president, Macomb County Bar Foundation. “We were so glad and grateful to see Macomb County lawyers generously step up to give. They are really great people, and we are so appreciative of their support.”
“ATA National Title Group, LLC is committed to supporting and serving all the local communities,” said John Bommarito, general counsel and corporate secretary, ATA National Title Group. “We’ve been located in and serving the Macomb County community for many years and were so inspired at how quickly the Macomb County Bar Foundation members responded with a donation for the Food Program. We wanted to respond with that same level of enthusiasm and dedication as we truly love Macomb County and love being a part of this community. We are honored to continue the charitable legacy of Phil Greco Sr., who founded our Greco Title operations back in 1972.”
